Personnel Training

Vetting:

Vigilant is an Equal Opportunities Employer and attempt to fit personnel to meet the philosophy and style of each individual client, as well as the special qualities relating to the role of security officer.

All personnel, whether full or part-time, are vetted in accordance with BS 7858 and Criminal Record checks are carried out. Reference request letters are sent to all potential new recruits' past employers covering the last ten years, or for their service records.

Under no circumstances does a new employee commence their duties until we have completed an initial five-year clearance and ensure they have the right to work in the UK.

Three character references are also requested from relevant persons with personal knowledge of the individual, in order to confirm that they are suitable, in all respects, for security duties.

Personal files for ongoing monitoring are compiled for all personnel, which typically contain the following information:

  • Full details and records relating to the employee's vetting
  • Full personal details relating to the employee
  • A copy of the employee's contract of employment
  • Record and certificates relating to the employee's training
  • Records relating to any disciplinary matters
  • An amendments section relating to any changes relating to the employee
  • Copies of all necessary correspondence during the period of employment
  • Records of all staff performance assessments

Full verification is made of the following:

  • Current place of residence
  • Verification of identity - by Passport, Military documents
  • Marriage Certificate
  • Date of leaving school or college
  • Employment record - month by month
  • Register of unemployment - from Department of Employment, Department of Social Security or other Government Agencies
  • Periods and details of self-employment - from Inland Revenue, Customs and Excise (VAT)
  • Periods of residence abroad - by Work Permits, Passports or from Embassies or Consulates.
